This is a much newer approach that Dr Gary Klein has incorporated into his smile makeovers as well as his rehabilitative dentistry today.
There are many patients who suffer from acid reflux, as well as acid erosion from dietary habits. The acid in many of these cases has wreaked havoc with the teeth, destroying tooth structure and compromising a patient’s ability to chew. The acid can wear down teeth to give a premature look of being much older. The teeth can appear more thin, more flat, sharp and yellow- especially when the edges of the front teeth are involved. As well, there are many people who grind their teeth down to give that very “aged” look. Ultimately the patient appears noticeably older than their true age.
The additive Dentistry technique is ultimately a very conservative technique that respects the pulp biology and puts back the lost tooth material, similar to an enamel replacement for the tooth material that has worn away over time.
Many times this technique can be done without freezing (if you choose!). The results are very beautiful and natural.
